What we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — in plain language.

Who we are and what this covers
Per Stirpes is practice software for estate planning law firms, made and operated by American Brokerage Group, Inc. (“we”). This policy covers perstirpes.co, the application at app.perstirpes.co, the firm-branded consoles and client portals we host for our customer firms, and our documentation sites.
One distinction matters throughout. Information about a firm’s clients and their legal matters belongs to the firm, not to us — we store and process it only to run the platform on the firm’s behalf. Information you send us directly — a demo request, a question, a firm’s own account details — is ours to handle, and this policy describes how we handle both.
We operate from the United States and process information there.
If you request a demo
The only information perstirpes.co collects is what you type into the contact form: your name, your email address, your firm’s name if you give it, and your message. The form sends us an email — nothing is written to a database, and you are not added to a marketing list. We use it to reply, and we keep the thread the way any business keeps its correspondence.
Like nearly every website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested — which we use only to keep the site secure and working.
If your firm uses the platform
When a law firm runs its practice on Per Stirpes, the platform processes:
- Staff accounts — name, email address, role, and sign-in activity for the firm’s team.
- Client portal accounts — clients sign in with email links; we store the email address and sign-in activity.
- Matter information — what clients and staff enter through intake forms and matter records: family details, beneficiaries, assets, and the other information an estate plan requires. It is entered in the course of a legal engagement with the firm.
- Documents and signatures — drafts, uploads, and signed documents, stored with per-firm isolation. Electronic signatures run through our e-signature provider, which keeps a signing audit trail (signer name, email, and signature events).
- Scheduling — if you book a meeting with a firm, your name, email, and the meeting details. Firm staff may connect their own Google or Microsoft calendars to power availability.
- Payments — payment processing is handled by Stripe, and card numbers never touch our servers. A client paying a firm’s invoice pays on the firm’s own Stripe account: the firm, not Per Stirpes, is the merchant.
- Email — the platform sends transactional email (sign-in links, notifications, invoices) and records delivery and bounce events so firms know what arrived.
Matter data belongs to the firm
For everything submitted in the course of an engagement — intake answers, documents, signatures, payments to the firm — the firm is responsible for the data, and we process it under the firm’s instructions and our agreement with the firm.
If you are a firm’s client and want to see, correct, or delete information from your matter, contact your firm — it can act on the request, and we will assist it. If you contact us directly about matter data, we will route the request to your firm.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide and operate the platform for firms and their clients;
- keep the service secure and prevent abuse;
- respond when you contact us, and support firms when they ask;
- bill subscriptions and process payments;
- send service communications such as sign-in links and notifications;
- comply with the law.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers below, with the firm whose engagement it belongs to, and where the law requires.
Service providers
The platform runs on a small set of infrastructure providers, each processing data only to provide its service to us:
- Vercel — web hosting and content delivery
- Supabase — database, file storage, and client sign-in infrastructure
- WorkOS — staff sign-in for firm teams
- Stripe — payments and billing
- SignNow — electronic signatures
- Nylas — scheduling and calendar connections
- Postmark — transactional email delivery
- Inngest — background job processing
- Amazon Web Services — document rendering infrastructure
Separately, a firm may connect its own accounts — a Google or Microsoft calendar, or cloud storage that receives copies of matter documents. Those services handle that data under their own terms, and the firm controls the connection.
Cookies
perstirpes.co sets no cookies — no analytics, no trackers. The application uses cookies only where the service cannot work without them: keeping you signed in and protecting public forms from abuse. There are no advertising or analytics cookies anywhere.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit and data is encrypted at rest. Each firm’s data is isolated with row-level controls enforced by the database itself, not just the application. File links are signed and time-limited, staff access is role-based, and the platform keeps an audit trail of activity on each matter. No system is perfectly secure — but tenant isolation is the load-bearing wall of this platform, and we treat it that way. There is more detail on our security page.
Retention
Demo requests and other correspondence are kept as ordinary business records. Firm account information is kept for the life of the firm’s subscription and as the law requires. Matter data is kept according to the firm’s instructions and retention settings; when a firm’s subscription ends, its data is returned or deleted under our agreement with the firm, subject to any legal holds.
Your choices
Write to support@perstirpes.co (or use the contact form) to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We answer within a reasonable time, and where state privacy laws give you specific rights, we honor them. For information that is part of a legal matter, your firm is the right door to knock on — see above.
Children
Per Stirpes is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Estate plans, by their nature, often include information about family members, including minor children — that information is provided by adult clients in the course of a legal engagement and is processed on the firm’s behalf as matter data.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we will update it here and adjust the date at the top. For material changes, we will give firms direct notice. Earlier versions are available on request.
